Where Love Meets Magic: A Journey Through Bosco de’ Medici
Today, August 18th, 2022, I am in the boutique of Casale Bosco de’ Medici.
The estate is located in Pompeii, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, near the archaeological excavations and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary. Federica and Gabriel have scheduled an appointment because they wish to discover the venue for their wedding.
Here they come: Federica, tall, dark-haired, with Mediterranean features and a radiant personality; and Gabriel, blond with distinctly Nordic traits — practically her opposite. His voice is clear, confident, and firm. As soon as they sit down, we connect instantly.
They immediately tell me about their dream: celebrating their wedding in the garden, under a canopy of twinkling lights, wrapped in a romantic atmosphere. The dress code will be long dresses and flip-flops — Federica herself will wear low sandals.
But they do have one concern: despite choosing a summer date, they fear unpredictable weather. I reassure them right away.
I guide them through the various spaces of the Casale. We start with the winter garden, a covered hall surrounded by lush vegetation. I like to call it “the enchanted garden.”
At this point I tell them about something truly unexpected that happened in July, during another couple’s wedding. No one expects rain in mid-summer… yet that day, a sudden downpour caught everyone by surprise. The couple panicked, guests rushed under the pergola — but my team and I acted immediately. While the guests enjoyed the buffet accompanied by mandolin and guitar, I gathered the entire dining and winery staff and we moved all the tables from the square to the winter garden. Luckily, we had a plan B — which isn’t really a “B,” because it preserves all the charm of the outdoor garden.
Without it, it would have been chaos: wet dresses, muddy outfits, unstable tables on the grass.
Instead, everything was saved in time. When the bride and groom walked into the covered garden, their joy was indescribable. The bride hugged me in tears — and I hugged her back. Even their parents were amazed and kept asking how we managed such a transformation.
Fortunately, by evening the rain stopped, allowing us to set up the cake corner, the dessert table and the confetti station outdoors, near the waterfall.
By the end of the story, Gabriel and Federica were completely reassured. We continued the tour, exploring the square, the Infinity Pergola where the buffet is held, part of the archaeological ruins, the stables where children can play, and the historic casale with the bridal suite.
Finally, we returned to the boutique, selected the decorations and, together with Chef Gioacchino, chose the menu. And so, full of enthusiasm, they confirmed their wedding at Casale Bosco de’ Medici.
