Pompeii in Summer: Concerts, Theatre and Nights Among the Ruins
There is something extraordinary about listening to live music inside a UNESCO World Heritage Site, surrounded by two thousand years of history. This summer, just a short walk from Bosco de’ Medici, Pompeii becomes one of the most breathtaking stages in the world.

Beats of Pompeii 2026 — Live Music in the Roman Amphitheatre
From 24 June to 27 July 2026, the Amphitheatre of the Pompeii Excavations — one of the oldest and best-preserved in the world — hosts the third edition of B.O.P. – Beats of Pompeii, the live music festival that has already earned its place on the international cultural events circuit.
The 2026 lineup spans genres and generations: jazz, progressive rock, pop, folk, classical music and Italian singer-songwriters. Among the confirmed names are Pat Metheny, Claudio Baglioni, Vinicio Capossela, Charlie Puth, Marcus Miller, Riccardo Cocciante, Riccardo Muti, Opeth, Marillion, Savatage and many more — with several concerts already sold out.
The programme also includes a special out-of-festival event: “È mio padre – Morricone Conducts Morricone” (25 June), in which Andrea Morricone will lead the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro di Modena in a tribute to Ennio Morricone, with the participation of Marco Morricone.

The big new addition: the Ruins open after dark
This year, on concert evenings, visitors will also be able to access part of the archaeological site after sunset. The Palestra Grande will open its doors for a specially curated display dedicated to the plaster casts of the victims of the 79 AD eruption of Vesuvius — recently reinstalled. An experience that goes far beyond the concert itself.
Pompeii Theatrum Mundi 2026 — Classical Theatre at the Teatro Grande
From 18 June to 12 July 2026, the Teatro Grande of the Pompeii Excavations hosts the Pompeii Theatrum Mundi theatre festival, with four evening performances spanning Greek tragedy, contemporary dance and internationally acclaimed directors.
The 2026 programme includes:
- The Bacchae by Euripides, directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos — 18, 19 and 20 June, 9:00 pm
- A.V.A. — June dates, 9:00 pm
- Alcestis — July dates, 8:00 pm
- The Persians — July dates, 8:00 pm
